Employees of the State Historical and Cultural Museum-Reserve "Berel" of the Culture Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan have started conducting field research this year.

The field research is carried out as part of the scientific project IRN AP23486716 "Sign System and Tamgas of the Kazakhs of Altai", which is being implemented under the grant funding program of the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 2024-2026.

In the second year of the three-year project, exploratory and research work was carried out in the Tarbagatai and adjacent Zaisan regions. As a result, ancestral tamgas and petroglyphs were discovered in the Manyrak Mountains.

In addition, the marking signs for livestock (en and tamga) used in everyday practice by the residents of the villages of Kuigan, Bozsha, Manyrak, and other settlements in the Tarbagatai region were studied.

During the research, interviews were conducted with local residents, and valuable information about the traditions of using en and tamga was collected. Project Manager: Dr. PhD S.K.
