Approximately 3 km southeast of the village of Besterek, in the vicinity of the Maitpas winter settlement, a gravestone bearing a tamga was identified. An old Kazakh cemetery, tentatively dated to the 18th–19th centuries, is also located at this site.
The funerary structure consists of a circular stone enclosure built of grey-green slate slabs, the surfaces of which are covered with lichen. At present, the structure is considerably damaged: some of the slabs have shifted or collapsed, while the interior of the enclosure is densely overgrown with herbaceous vegetation and shrubs.
In the western part of the outer enclosure, a vertically set gravestone stele made of dark metamorphic rock has survived, slightly leaning to the right. A sign executed by incision is recorded on the front surface of the stele.
Its composition consists of two parallel horizontal lines intersected in the central part by a vertical line. The dimensions of the stele are 16.99 × 18.42 × 15.33 cm.
Considering its archaeological context and the manner in which it was executed, the recorded sign may be interpreted as the clan tamga of the deceased.
